Restaurant La Dolça Herminia

Magdalenes 27, Barcelona
Tel: +34 93 317 06 76
Metro: Jaume I (Yellow Line)

This restaurant is large, with hard-to-define decor, but is one of the most pleasant restaurants in the Barri Gòtic. It is an ideal place to recharge your batteries after wandering through the old town and visiting the cathedral, especially because of the price of their set menu: (EUR 8). The restaurant attracts a lot of tourists due to its location. They serve market cuisine, with lots of light, well-prepared dishes: salads, vegetable cakes, fish, fricassee and delicious desserts such as tiramisu, yoghurts, and fruit and ice-cream combos.

I personally like this restaurant a lot it is one of my favorites. I have been there a lot of time. This restaurant was reccomended to me by a friend.

La Fianna

Banys Vell 15, Barcelona
Metro: Jaume I (Yellow line)
Tel: +34 93 315 1810
Website: www.lafianna.com

La Fianna is a warm restaurant with a lounge inviting you to relax. Chill-out music rounds out the philosophy of a place designed for its guests to get away. In this modern atmosphere one can taste some very creative cuisine. For starters we recommend the Asian salad or pear, vegetables and blue cheese rolls with sweet & sour sauce. Then, among other options, there’s the vegetable curry, or if you prefer, shrimp and Swiss chard ravioli, and fish dishes like hake with “maki” and Wasabi sauce. Among meats, their offer includes duck magret with vodka and orange and a beef carpaccio with tirabeques and Idiazabal cheese. For dessert there’s the cheesecake with blueberry sauce or the Molleaux, a chocolate coulant. Mondays and Tuesdays they offer 2 x 1 cocktails from 22.00 and their cocktail of the week always costs 4,00. They also host happy hour every day from 19:00 to 23:30, serving dishes like nachos, Mexican quesadillas, spicy “brava” potatoes and mozzarella sticks with sauce.

Comment
This restaurant also has nice brunches on sunday. I went there with my friends on a sunday afternoon for the brunch. They serve from 14:30 to 18:00 and have a different menu every week. You recieve a lot of food for the amount of money you pay. Their brunches are very big and tasty. We loved it and have been back there three times already.

Vino Tinto Restaurant

Aribau 27, Barcelona
Metro: Plaza Universitat (Red Line) / Passeig de Gracia (Green or Yellow Line)
Tel. +34 93 451 1027
Website: www.vinotintoparrilla.com

A friend of mine, expat from California, introduced me to a great restaurant in Barcelona called VINO TINTO (corner of Calle Consell de Cent and Aribau). You´ll see the sign and a wooden barrell outside as decoration.

When I first walked in, I saw a bar at the entrance. Behind the wall was an array of wines from La Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Valladolid, Catalunya. I looked at the Wine Menu and the prices were reasonable to expensive. Because the restaurant is becoming very popular, the bar is a great way to order a glass of wine while you wait for a table. Once there´s an available table, the waiter walks you down the hallway. Tip, take a quick stop to look at an authentic stone oven used to cook the variety of meats they offer on their menu. it gives the meat dishes a superior flavor. You won´t be disappointed with their steaks or selection of tapas.

Most importantly, the customer service is really good. The waiters are fast and efficient as well as smile. Santi, is the public relations director of Vino Tinto and does a great job at making you feel at home. If in town for business or pleasure, I give Vino Tinto a thumbs up. It´s walking distance from our Gaudi, Dali, Picasso apartments, located off Paseig de Gracia. See our website of quality apartments: http://www.rentalona.com/

Dos Trece is a restaurant/bar that offers from modern to international dishes, cocktail drinks and fusion music. The restaurant is located in the northern part of Raval, 5 minutes away from La Rambla.

The dishes are very good, original, and well presented. I highly recommend the roastbeef with whiskey sauce, fine white beans, parmesan, and potato. Their homemade style hamburger with a side of french fries complemented with 4 different sauces is also another dish that many newcomers can enjoy.

Looking for a place to hang out with friends and start off your night on the right foot. Dos Trece has a wide selection of cocktail drinks: Vanillapolitan, Mojitos, Piña colada, Absolut Ice Tea, Chilli Out, Royal Temptation.

Along with food and drinks, the music creates a chill environment with jazz, blues, flamenco, and fusion.

During the summer, it is a great place to hang out on the terrace with friends. It is also welcoming for couples who want to have a romantic dinner. If ever in the area for lunch, check out their midday menu. Prices are reasonable and the service is enjoyable.

Mexican food in Barcelona has been difficult to find. Rosa Negra caught my eye because of its´coloful kitsch décor and many friends highly recommended the food. Since my first visit, I frequently go during lunch time and take advantage of the 8 Euro Menu.

The guacamole is especially fresh and has that tad of lemon juice that makes it so good. If you are on a budget, the Menu offers a good selection of dishes, the quantity is reasonable, and the price is cheap. For dessert I recommend the mousse de cáfe (coffee mousse). It´s creamy texture and coffee flavor ends a good meal on a high note. The waiters at Rosa Negra are friendly, efficient, and quick at serving their customers.

Open: Mon – Sun 13:00 – 24:00

General Information
This is an affordable authentic Mexican restaurant right in the heart of the old city, Barcelona. The food is fresh and homemade, which keeps customers coming back weekly. The décor is a funky modern kitsch with a colourful take on traditional Mexican style… really original and dare I say cool. The Menu includes dishes like crispy nachos with guacamole, juicy Mexican steak, delicious burritos and quesadillas. There is also a Menu Del Dia (Set Menu for 8 euros) offered during the weekdays. Rosa Negra has delicious freshly made margaritas and mojitos, only €3.50 during happy hour (from 6pm to 8pm).

Personal Review
This restaurant is very affordable and has excellent food. The customer service is good, they are friendly and they don’t let you wait long for the food. The restaurant style is what I like, it is very different from what I have seen before. They have dolls hanging on the wall, very colourful.
